Surface Dressing & Specialist Treatments

Clee Hill Plant’s extensive fleet of pneumatic tyred rollers includes machines in a range from 4 to 27 tonnes. The larger machines can work with ballast to accurately match the machine’s operating weight to the application. Due to their excellent kneading effect pneumatic tyred rollers achieve an excellent sealing of the surface. Pneumatic tyred rollers are used on applications such as highway and airfield maintenance, the compaction of cementitious materials and surface dressing.

Surface dressing is an established highway maintenance technique. It involves spraying an emulsion binder onto an existing road surface, the laying of aggregate chippings and the compaction of the chippings into the binder.The Phoenix chip spreader, shown above, lays the aggregate chippings and offers a variable width to suit the road conditions. Combination rollers and rubber coated self propelled rollers, as well as pneumatic tyred rollers, are also used to compact other highly specialist surfaces.
